Olana is the name of Frederic Church’s stunning home in Hudson, NY. Church was one of the first painters in the “Hudson River School of Art”. The home was lovingly designed by Church, himself. It is a work of art and incredible to see. It is a fascinating mix of middle eastern and victorian motifs.
Church has adorned virtually every inch of this amazing building!
The walkways through the grounds are artistic as well. Check out that fence and bench!
These beautiful Hudson River views inspired Church in his paintings, as well as many other artists of this era.
Hudson, NY is a beautiful 2 hour drive north of NYC. I absolutely recommend taking the time to explore it. Afterwards, you can head into the city and view several of his masterpieces at the Met!
Before you go, you should check out Olana’s website to be certain of opening hours and ticket prices.
